The InBetween was the capstone project for the Texas Immersive Institute class of 2023 and was shortlisted for a Yugo Bafta Award. It was an immersive installation with 12 total shows which took place in April of 2023. Each show lasted 45 minutes and transported the users to an imaginary world that was in between life and death. There was a character who you could ask questions to and who would respond with guidance, and there were 4 mini experiences that brought the viewers closer to the answers about the story of the In Between. This immersive experience was a mix between an art exhibit and an escape room. There was a narrative and a world that the audience explored but the experience was open and they could engage with any of the experiences in any order except for an initial monologue from “Management” (The one live actor who the audience would interact with through a touch designer figure). This project was centered around world building, and bringing that world to life through immersive technologies including AR, VR, Live action role playing, and other interactive media.
