Description: Meet Margaret is an AR-experience that addresses two local audiences: The local houseless community and those who voted for Proposition B, which makes street camping illegal. The experience places QR codes throughout the city of Austin, and when people scan them it takes the user to a web-AR experience. A homeless character named Margaret appears in the surrounding landscape, and you have a conversation with Margaret. Each location reveals a part of her story. The character is fictional but each fact and detail of her life is based on real stories from people experiencing homelessness in Austin. The Goal is to build empathy towards the houseless population in Austin through fostering understanding and to raise awareness.
Design Process: We started with Audience research and combined 10 qualitative interviews with netnography and wrote up a research report. We then created solutions based on the needs of both audiences.
